Signs Matter

The sign in front of your church, or directing people to your church, speaks loudly about your church. What does it say? Take a look. Is it faded? Rusty? Bent? Are the words clear? Directions easily understood? Now may be a good time to check out your sign and replace it if necessary.

New Sign Designs Are Available

For the past 55 years Episcopal Churches across the nation have posted the very familiar
"The Episcopal Church Welcomes You" signs.

Churches now have a choice . a new design with the traditional words or the traditional words and sign. Also, churches can order a small additional information sign that attaches to the main sign that reads "Member of the Worldwide Anglican Communion."

Orders Now Go Through Episcopal
Parish Services And Can Be Ordered On-Line

Churches can now order their signs by going to the Episcopal Parish Services website (www.episcopalparishservices.org) and clicking "church signs," and then "to order a sign." (See above.) Or they can call Episcopal Parish Services (800) 903-5544 to request a brochure and order form.

Images of sample signs and detailed instructions on-line will help the viewer select a sign and place the church name and other information on the sign. A preview section allows the viewer to see how the words entered will appear on the finished sign. The sign can then be purchased using a credit card and/or the church's EPS account number.

Please allow four to six week for delivery.

Porcelain Enamel Signs Last for 30 Years

The porcelain coated steel signs available through EPS combine the hardness of glass with the strength and rigidity of steel. They are made to last for 30 years.

The signs are unaffected by high temperatures or freezing weather. Neither fresh nor salt water damages the signs. They resist surface damage from scraping. Spray paint or markers can be wiped off the signs using an appropriate solvent.

The letters and images of the signs are permanently fused to the metal base and will not fade or peel. Porcelain enamel is non-porous so that the signs cannot be stained by any medium.

The metal used to attach the sign to a pole or to each other should be stainless steel. Rust from other types of metal can drain down over the sign, discoloring it, even though the rust could be removed with a cleaning fluid.

Before Ordering Your Signs

  1. Select the exact location where your signs will be placed.
  2. Secure permission from the property owner for the erection of the sign.
  3. Make sure you have secured all the necessary permits from the local municipality.
  4. Be sure that the information you submit is accurate. If you use a directional arrow be doubly sure it is pointing in the correct direction. We cannot give credit for inaccurate copy if the error is yours. If the error is ours, we will take full responsibility.
  5. All hardware provided is galvanized. When necessary, apply a coat of heavy black enamel.
  6. Use only stainless steel fasteners for mounting your signs.

How to Assemble Your Sign

  1. Purchase locally (from a lumberyard, hardware store or fence company) a 15-foot length of standard 2-inch steel pipe, and a finial to seal the open top from the rain.
  2. Drill 3/8 inch holes, in parallel - one 6" from the top end, and a second 19" from the top end.
  3. Mount the finial on the top end of the pipe, and fix firmly in place with a setscrew or otherwise.
  4. Paint the entire pole with aluminum paint (available from a paint store).
  5. Mount the bracket on the pole using the drilled holes.
  6. Attach hanging sign to the bracket

How to Install the Pole

Plant the pole firmly in the ground to a depth of 30". The only completely satisfactory method is to set the pole in concrete. The concrete should be pyramid shaped (as shown), measuring 12" square at the top; l8" square at the bottom; and 30" deep

A sign anchored in this way will
